A taste of the town

Meanwhile, across the causeway, downtown Miami is still hungry for more food options.

"We heard" tapped into a highly vocal chorus of underfed real estate professionals who were all too happy to talk about what was lacking on the downtown dining scene. While their tastes were varied, all agreed locating a Houston's downtown would be a good start and all wanted to believe rumors that the restaurant chain is in negotiations for space along NE 2nd Street on the edge of the Jewelry District.

However, a call to Hillstone Group, the parent company in Beverly Hills, quickly flattened that soufflé. No truth to that rumor at all, says Hillstone's Anne Gibson.

Hillstone has nine restaurant brands including the Palm Beach Grill, remarkably in Palm Beach, and Gulfstream, a set of California eateries about as far from the namesake as possible. Houston's has five locations in Florida, including restaurants in North Miami and Coral Gables.

"We heard" will keep an eye — and a tastebud — on the situation.
